Because We Care I don't have all the facts yet on this benefit, but I can report on what I saw...Santa & Mrs. Clause arrived at the Sanford airport around 9 a.m. and were met by some very excited children. After hugs and photos they boarded the local Trolley for their ride down main street to the High School where the Christmas Festival was in full swing. Mrs. Clause invited Stevie Cee to join them on the Trolley and Stevie led the children singing Christmas Caroles on the ride. There were many activities planned for the children, including face painting, cookie decorating, cake walk, photos with Santa and stories from Mrs. Clause. Many vendors had set up their wares in hopes of some holiday sales. Dj Tommy Dean, his wonderful wife Agnes, and Linda Griffith aka The TeddyBear Lady made the long drive down from Ellsworth to support this event. Linda brought bags of teddy bears and sold 80+ within a very short period of time. Linda donated all the proceeds back to the benefit! THANK YOU!!!! We are so proud to call these people our friends...they just keep on giving and giving! At 1:00 o'clock Stevie Cee invited his guests up and they put on a fantastic show...thank you 13 year old Brian Wardwell, Megan Burnell and Gary Moffit for your performances. The vendors were a little skeptical at first regarding the music, but by the end of the show they were clapping their hands and tapping their toes and invited us all back next year!
Because We Care is a non-profit organization raising funds to help cancer patients and their families during very difficult times. A most worthwhile endeavor indeed. Sharron Bedard has been there and understands how much a helping hand can mean, she has a real passion for what she's doing. Everyone went a way with a smile on their face and that can only mean something good just took place! (I will add total raised and other info as I receive confirmation)
